It is one of the most beautiful exhibitions to see at this time in Paris. Klee to the Orangery, it is only twenty-six tables but they are hung in a harmonious and didactic manner. It is also a tribute to the merchant and creator of the Beyeler Foundation. Ernst Beyeler died in February - seventeen paintings come from the Fund. Paul Klee was a German installed in Bern. If there can be doubt "geographic" between the merchant and artist solidarity, it is also clear that Klee was seen as a great Explorer of abstraction. Comment of Ernst Beyeler: "overall his painted work begins as a Chamber music and ends in Symphony;" Klee has therefore made an astonishing rise, of the wonderful to the dramatic.
Between music and painting

The Orangery can follow step by step, its evolution patterns and hues. The artist was born in 1879 in a family of musicians. He wrote "the music is for me as a Bewitched beloved" and it will be reference throughout his career of painter by establishing bridges between the two domains. It is however the path of art as reflected in his journal in 1901: "as ideal profession: poetic art and philosophy; as a realistic profession: art plastic and, in the absence of an annuity: the art of drawing. "In 1909, he discovered the work of Paul Cézanne. At the same time, he wrote a methodology which puzzled: "1 - rigorously drawing from nature ...." 2 reverse drawing and highlight the main lines with the feeling.
Understand the theory by observing the first work of the exhibition, dated 1912. Slightly embracing a form of diamond, it is a wonder of color confusion. A landscape "cubisant", a remote village on a mountain view. In 1912, it will also participate in the second exhibition of the expressionist movement of the blue rider. In 1916: "the Moon is, high and resplendent" is the title of a gouache. Klee attended Kandinsky, who becomes his friend. He met and translated into German the theories of Delaunay. He worked on color, tonal breaks and geometric forms designed in entanglement.
In 1920, it releases the representation. "Landscape Park" is a construction of abstract forms, such as a theatre of unidentifiable characters, organized by strata. He worked retail. In 1930, it drawing in black and white surrealist inspiration entitled "what is the problem with him." A fun anomaly in the chromatic route of exposure. Since 1927, Klee provides to the German Academy of the Bauhaus - interdisciplinary and advocating the vanguard - of the free painting classes. In 1931, it plunges into a "speckled" abstraction to be one of his trademarks. In 1933, Hitler was appointed Chancellor and the apartment of the Klee in Düsseldorf is searched by the nazis. The work of the painter is shown in the exhibition of degenerate Art. "Me here evacuee ...." In recent weeks, I have aged a bit.
The wonderful to tragedy
He returned to Bern. In 1935, he feel the first symptoms of a disease - a progressive Scleroderma - which he will die five years later. Ernst Beyeler said that his illness coupled with the tragedy of the war had affected the dramatic intensity of his work. The remainder of the story, it is a dark and frenzied production. The ultimate work passes of the wonderful to the tragic. The artist no longer allowed to colour. In 1939, it creates no less than 1,200 works. The majority of forms and signs is now circled in black. Klee has engineering shots, immense freedoms as in his "drunk Mumom was dropped on his head", a character in graffiti dated 1940.
The artist is rare in Paris. This title also must salute this exhibition. And to go further in the discovery of Klee, he must go to Bern where since 2005 the Zentrum Paul Klee, holds 4,000 works on the 10,000 it will be produced.
