Arrived here more than seven months in the position of Director General of the autonomous port of Marseille, Guy Janin summarizes for the LTL his first impressions: "the port has a significant potential but I had a few social problems." "I signed six agreements, including the agreement out of the crisis with the CGT only and another with all the unions of the port". Say that the Director due will, upon his arrival, "lead the social past" is a euphemism.
The agreement of March 6 to solder the past and reassure customers of WFP

Finding: the fourth port of Europe has benefited less than its rivals of global growth. To clear the past, Guy Janin had to sign, on a background of crisis, several social agreements including one on "the RTT and the reorganization of goods to Fos terminals". Last year, the WFP general traffic has stagnated at 96.6 Mt ( 2.7 in 2004). Especially, a drop found on container (-1 to 9 160 000 TEUs) traffic. In question, the weeks of strikes due in large part to the 132 "portiqueurs" (42 in Marseille and Fos 90) and 200 dockworkers on a total of 1,500 employees. Little reminder: the dockers are not employees of the port but handling companies.
That should do First the tensions and reassure customers, shippers and shipowners. And today, if the agreement signed in le Havre on handling has not been transposed as what - the emergency is not the same, Fos 2XL is far from completion-, at least the process was hired with the agreement of March 6, signed by several unions including the CGT.

The new dg, to improve the reliability and productivity of the port
The preamble to this agreement says "the will to put in place a scalable and effective Organization for products traffic (...)" and "find a necessary adaptation comparable to what is being done in the neighbouring ports." Sign that something has actually changed, the "multidarses" principle, signed by the CGT and which is that a crane operator will be assigned to a place but where is there of the work. Another advance, the agreement provides a process for resolution of issues prior to the phase of conflict.
"The agreement on the portiqueurs entered into force on 19 June." "My main concern now is to improve reliability and productivity of the port", continues Guy Janin. Indeed, the results of traffic are halftone. At end of May 2006 (from end of May 2005), global traffic grew by 1.2. Hydrocarbons and liquid bulk stagnate; various goods are 3.5 (including 1.9 only for containers) and the bulk are to 4.5. In short, not what celebrate. Outputs are in significant increase, but imports are declining. It is an effect of the crisis of 2005 which led to diversions of traffic and loss of market for WFP shares. Yet, according to Monica Bonvalet of WFP, the productivity of the crane of Fos is normal, in good average European: 25 to 30 by portico and movements per hour for a containerised container. "But attention, adds, productivity is not the only port but also the owner and handling".
The WFP wants to draw arms and continue his role as developer
Another mission of the Directorate of WFP is to attract foreign arms. This is why trade missions have been sent to the Brazil and Algeria. "We do have not enough of the dynamism of the Algeria", noted the Director-General, who would like to guide these trafficking into its basin is.
Finally, in his role as developer-developer of the port of Marseille, also avencent things. To take only the example of Fos Distriport (near both Fos 2XL and Graveleau terminal): "of the 600 000 m2 site, 212 000 m2 received a building permit and a prefectural authority (including 72 000 m2 of warehouses in operation); "55 000 m2 are under construction and 85 000 m2 are yet to launch for 2006."
